Charity Spotlight: Al Wooten Jr. Heritage Center:
You know Ron Glass for his role of Shepard Book in the Firefly/Serenity Universe. His charity of choice is the Al Wooten Jr. Heritage Center. Mr. Glass serves on the Board of Directors and is a champion of the organization.
The Al Wooten Jr. Heritage Center is a safe place where youth in South Central Los Angeles can go after school. Here students can learn important social skills, receive tutoring and participate in academic enrichment programs. The Al Wooten Jr. Heritage Center also offers programs in the performing arts, violence prevention and gardening to inspire students to succeed and follow their dreams. Visit the Al Wooten Jr. Heritage Center website. http://www.wootencenter.org/
The Wooten Center has come a long way since its founder, Faye Rumph, began mentoring four young boys 16 years ago. The challenge of serving more than 300 youths, and raising our expectation of these bright youths demand that we continually upgrade our programs and services.
